The Crescent Meadow Massacre

So yesterday, after Moro Rock, we decided to head up to Crescent Meadow.  It is a short 2.8 mile hike from Crescent Meadow to The Museum of Giants, so we thought it would be a perfect way to see both sights.  How bad could it be, right?

The hike itself was gorgeous.  We were amazed at how huge some of the sequoias on the trail were.  Crescent Meadow was peaceful, and Justin kept looking for Ewoks and speeder bikes, because he swore we were actually on the forest moon of Endor.

So after walking for a while, we came to a fork in the trail.  We were not quite sure which way to go, since the museum was not listed on the trail sign.  We took a guess, and kept walking.

The scenery was breathtaking.  Guess which girl is holding a giant sequoia seed cone?  Believe it or not, Tate is.  Rylee is holding a sugar pine cone.  Hard to believe those tiny cones produce these giants.

Now at this point, we lost the trail, so we (except for Justin) were starting to get  worried.  We had passed several trail signs and none of them pointed us in the direction of the museum.  About this time, all of our phones died, so no more pictures either.

We wandered around those trails for several hours before we found our way to the museum.  When we finally arrived at the museum, we realized that we'd taken a very "circuitous" route there.  The big map on the wall read...

Nice to know now.  So after a VERY long day, the kids decided they were never hiking again...  until tomorrow.
