We got quite a few surprises at school last week, and I'm just getting around to posting them. First, Rylee's artwork was chosen for the Gilbert Public Schools art show next week. The opening reception is on Tuesday, April 21st from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at Norwood Furniture in downtown Gilbert. We are so proud of Rylee and will post pictures from the art show next week.
We also found out the Connor is a Gilbert Public Schools Golden Scholar. It is an academic award that they give to kids in Gilbert Schools (4th grade and up) that have had straight A's all year. It's especially rewarding for Connor because he takes accelerated math and language courses. Basically, he's pulled off straight A's for the 4th grade year, even though he's been taking 5th grade math and language. Way to go, Connor!
We also just found out that Connor won the school elections. He was running for next year's Student Body Secretary of Ashland Ranch. He's the only 5th grader (for next year) that was elected. The rest of the student council are 6th graders. He's going to have a full plate next year!
Justin and his good friend, Leonard, got it into their heads that they were going to climb Weaver's Needle and camp on top. So last weekend, they headed out for adventure. They got a bit of a late start and ended up climbing in the dark. They actually reached the summit at 9:00 pm. It's a good thing I didn't know until AFTER he got back. I would have been freaking out the whole time. :-)
