Monterey Beach Resort - Take Two

Okay, here are the pictures I promised.  After a 3 1/2 hour drive from Pismo Beach, we arrived in Monterey.  We actually got stuck in traffic outside of Pismo Beach due to a big accident, so we were delayed an hour.  It all worked out, though, as we arrived just in time to check in to our beachfront hotel.

So we checked into our room, and walked out of our door to this.  Our room doesn't actually face the beach this time, but who cares?  When it's this close (that's our hotel in the background), it's totally worth it.  The water was cold, so it took a few minutes for the kids to get brave enough to get wet.

Here they are laughing at Mom.  While I was trying to get a good picture, a big wave came up and soaked me.  They thought it was hilarious.

Tatum loved running from the waves.  It took her a while before she'd even get her feet wet.

Rylee was bravest.  She'd get closest to the water and just wait for the waves to come wash over her.  Connor wasn't so sure at first.  He hung back for quite a while.

Finally, Connor ended up getting wet--and I mean really wet.  He was probably the most soaked in the end.  Rylee had this weird fascination with seaweed.  She spent a lot of time collecting different kinds of seaweed and putting it in a big pile.

This is Rylee with her seaweed microphone.  Crazy kid.

Then a huge chunk of seaweed washed ashore, and Rylee and Tatum spent several minutes trying to haul it up.  That stuff is HEAVY!  They finally gave up, and decided to build a sandcastle with Dad.

Then they spent the rest of the afternoon building sandcastles with Dad and watching the waves wash them away.  What a great way to wrap up the afternoon!
