We started off with the Whaley House. The Whaley House is a very old house with a pretty gruesome history. It was built on the site of the old town gallows.
The Whaley family purchased the property and built their home on it. It was deemed haunted while they lived in it, and several family members died in the home.
It served as a courthouse, general store, and theater while family was living there. It was 2200 square feet, which was a mansion at the time.
We went through every room and looked for something supernatural. Children have reported feeling a dog lick their toes and someone tugging on their clothing. Tatum was nervous that she might experience something like that.
Unfortunately, we didn't experience anything out of the ordinary. We looked and looked, too. No ghost tales for the Richardson kids.
We were pretty fascinated by the way of life back then. No toilets or running water! The kids were less than thrilled by the idea of using a chamber pot.
After the Whaley House, we headed over to The Mormon Battalion. We had heard it was interesting, and it was a pretty cool little presentation.
By this time, we were pretty hungry. We grabbed some yummy Mexican food at a local restaurant and headed to shop a bit.
Tatum's favorite stop was the candy store, where we watched them make hand pulled taffy. So yummy!
Connor and Rylee's favorite stop was the Whaley House--even without the ghosts.
After a long day of walking--Old Town is full of museums and shops--we made our way home.
