A Day at the Zoo...and More!

So the kids were going stir-crazy a few days ago, and I was wondering how I was going to make it through winter break without going nuts. I decided it was time to get them out of the house for a field trip to the zoo. It turned out to be a great idea, because the weather was beautiful, and all the animals were out enjoying it.

We decided to invite Rylee's good friend, Kayla, to come along and made a playdate of it as well. The kids had a great time. We got to see the cute baby orangutan playing peek-a-boo behind a sheet, which the kids loved. And we got to see Tatum and Rylee's favorite animal, Padfoot the ocelot--who reminds us all quite a bit of our own kitty, Buzz.

After the zoo, we headed to the optometrist for Connor and Rylee's annual check ups. Yes, it's been nearly a year since both got glasses. We found out that Rylee's prescription has jumped up drastically, and that's why she's been squinting so much lately. They'll both need new glasses, which Rylee will end up having to wear all the time now... something she's been doing anyway over the last few weeks.

Then to top off our busy day, Uncle Jaylen came over with his girlfriend Blair for some dinner and Rock Band! The girls latched right on to Blair, and by the end of the evening, they were giving their play ponies make-overs and laughing like best friends! Whew, what a busy day!
