I know that there are probably a million "more important" things I should have posted here first... like the first day of school, going to visit Jed, life in the rental house, blah, blah, blah, but WE WENT TO GREEN DAY LAST NIGHT!!! Connor got a taste of his first real concert, and boy was it a big one! We went with our friends, Nichols and Diane. The five of us even rode the new lightrail into downtown.
Connor's very favorite band, Green Day, played at US Airways last night, and we got him tickets to go. He's been learning Green Day songs on his guitar since he started playing 2 years ago, so we wanted to let him see what a real concert was like. It was a huge concert, and Connor had a blast. We did, too! Green Day puts on an amazing show, with lots of audience participation.
We had general admission floor seats, and we were close. This picture above was taken on our friends' phone from where we were standing--right there! Connor was up on Justin's shoulders most of the night and close enough to reach out and touch Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer. It was close quarters, and by the end, we were all dripping with sweat. Kinda gross...
At the end of the concert, Justin took Connor up to the front to thank a security guard for keeping such a good eye on him. He was really good, and kept making sure Connor was alright throughout the concert. After they said their thank-yous, the security guard slipped Connor the setlist and pyrotechnics cue list from the show--complete with the handwritten notes on the side. Connor was so excited. He had a silly grin on his face for the rest of the night.
It a great first concert for Connor. We all had an amazing night, although we got home at about 2 am. It was so worth it. I'm sure the boys are ready for their next concert already!
